June 29, 2008
Select for printer-friendly pdf of this EOS information page.
What: EOS (End of Stay)
When: Sunday June 29, 2008 @ 1:00 p.m. (Central Time)
Where: Calvary United Methodist Church on Hillsboro Pike in Greenhills/Nashville (directions are on our web site under "Resources"=>"Directions"
How/Why:
- Students and their luggage need to be dropped off at 1:00 p.m. sharp at the church and FINAL goodbyes said if not already said.
- NO VISITORS: Once students are dropped off, they will not be allowed any visitors during the EOS Orientation. This includes departure at the airport. This includes family and friends. Elmer explained this at orientation to students and families.

- EOS Orientation Leaders: Susan Moon and Sabine Schlunk

- Bedding: Bedding will be provided.

- Food: Please feed your students lunch before dropping them off. Dinner/Sunday: Pizza will be ordered and delivered. Maybe the kids can bring snacks to share. Monday: breakfast and lunch will be provided. Any special diet concerns, let us know well in advance.

- Please remember, no family or friends to show up at the airport. The kids need the period of decompression and transition from their host families to prepare for returning home. There will be a lot going on, so please work with us and do not invite family or friends and delay things for everyone. Say your final goodbyes on Sunday morning. We appreciate and need your assistance in this.

- EOS and Flight Chaperone - Sabine Schlunk

Luggage miscellany: All students and Host Parents should have received luggage guidelines directly from AFS, so read those closely. Here is some additional information:

All Students will be responsible for paying for their second bag for American Airlines. The charge for that is expected to be $25.00. We do not believe they will be charged for the first bag as the tickets were purchased prior to the 15th of June. See the following page for more details.

Special luggage charge concerns for Cluster/Scholarship Students going on to Washington DC from New York:

- YES Students will be taking a bus from New York to DC and therefore should have no luggage charges for that leg of the trip.

- CB Students will be flying United Airlines. We have the National Office checking with the Cluster Coordinators to let us know if there are charges and if so, will the cluster program cover them.

July 1, 2008
International Departure Day - AFSers leave the USA and fly home (except Cluster Students)

"*" = mandatory for ALL students by federal and international law
"**" = mandatory for YES & CB students (all students are invited to most of these activities)
Please let Jackie O'Connor, our Cluster Coordinator, know if you have suggestions or would like to accompany cluster students on a specific activity.
